What Conditions Can the Safe Laser 150 Be Used For?

Injuries

The maximum penetration depth of the SL150 is 4 cm, making it suitable for treating tissues located near the skin surface and in the upper tissue layers. For deeper tissues, 808 nm infrared lasers (SL500 and SL1800) are recommended.

Mild Musculoskeletal Injuries

  • Bruises (contusions), sprains (distortions), and hematomas
  • Ligament, muscle, or tendon tears (ruptures)
  • Bone fractures

Overuse-Related Conditions

  • Tendon sheath inflammation (tendinitis), muscle inflammation (myositis), and bursitis
  • Periosteal inflammation occurring at muscle attachment or origin points (e.g. tennis elbow)

Degenerative Conditions

  • Joint inflammation (arthritis)
  • Pain relief and inflammation reduction in spinal disorders (e.g. lumbago)
  • Muscle disorders, such as muscle pain and joint contractures
  • Rheumatic pain (rheumatoid arthritis)

Musculoskeletal disorders may cause pain and functional problems in various parts of the body and across multiple joints.

Low-level laser therapy can significantly shorten the recovery time of traumatic and sports-related injuries.

When used before surgery, it accelerates the absorption of hematomas and edema, making the surgical area more accessible and reducing pain. After surgery, use the laser 1–2 times daily to support faster healing.

  • Supports normal tissue regeneration in cases of skin injuries, abrasions, and post-operative wounds, while also promoting the healing of chronic wounds and ulcers.
  • Supports the healing of herpes lesions.
  • Supports the healing of acne.

Superficial skin and mucosal conditions (such as herpes, mouth sores, ulcers, and aphthae), as well as gum recession, can be treated using the optional fiber optic attachment.

  • Reduces post-operative dental pain and inflammation while promoting the healing of soft and bone tissues.
  • Supports the healing of periodontitis and periodontal recession.
  • Promotes the healing of gingivitis.
  • Accelerates the healing of gum and oral mucosal injuries (e.g. mucositis and aphthous ulcers).
  • Always use the fiber optic attachment when treating the ear. Use the nasal applicator for the nostrils. Never use the fiber optic attachment directly inside the nostrils.
  • In many cases, it can reduce or eliminate tinnitus (ringing in the ears).
  • When used with the fiber optic attachment, it may improve hearing in cases of sudden hearing loss. The primary cause of sudden hearing loss is inadequate local blood circulation, which may result from bacterial or viral inflammation, or systemic circulatory disorders. By reducing local inflammation, the laser may help improve hearing.
  • Helps relieve symptoms of sinusitis and respiratory tract inflammations.

Treatment Guide

The Safe Laser 150 should be placed directly onto the painful or injured area and applied for the recommended duration before moving to the next point. (A disposable protective cover for the treatment head is available.) Multiple points may be treated consecutively depending on the size of the affected area.

If direct skin contact is not possible due to an open wound, hold the device as close as possible (maximum 0.5 cm away). In this case, the treatment time should be extended by 1 minute per point to ensure sufficient energy reaches the tissue.

For maximum safety, switch on the laser only after placing it on the skin to avoid accidental exposure to laser light. At the end of the treatment, switch the device off before removing it from the skin.

A minimum of 4 Joules of energy is required for effective healing.

  • Safe Laser 150 applied directly to the skin (4 Joules) = 3 minutes of irradiation
  • Safe Laser 150 with cosmetic treatment head (2 Joules) = 3 minutes of irradiation using massage movements (requires a special cream activated by 660 nm light)

With fiber optic attachment: 4–8 Joules = 15–30 seconds irradiation

With nasal applicator: 4 Joules = 3 minutes irradiation

The frequency of treatment depends on how long the condition has been present.

1. Acute conditions and post-surgical treatment

Treatment should be applied daily for 1–2 weeks, then three times weekly until symptoms disappear. Improvement is often noticeable during the first treatment or within 24 hours.

2. Chronic conditions (older than 6–8 weeks)

Long-standing conditions should be treated less frequently. Use the laser three times per week until symptoms disappear or are significantly reduced.

Recovery from chronic conditions takes longer. A temporary treatment reaction may occur.

If there is no improvement, treatment duration may be increased. If pain intensifies, reduce the dose.

If pain does not decrease within a few weeks, consider using the SL500 Infra or SL1800 Infra device.

3. Conditions treated through nasal irradiation

Daily use is recommended, 3 minutes in each nostril until symptoms disappear (maximum twice daily).

More frequent or longer treatments do not accelerate healing because there is a biological limit.
